Thiago has gained more grams each day for the last three days – he now weighs 692 (1 pound 8 ounces).
Sunday: He needed another blood transfusion – he was extremely pale due to the low blood count. Thiago was given another echo (heart x-ray) and it has been highly recommended that either with medication or surgery - the heart murmur must be closed. The murmur is causing the heart to work twice as much as it should be and now Thiago’s heart has gotten too big for his little body. His doctor has started him on the medication which will be taken in three doses (one per day) the last dose is Wednesday and after that he will be given another echo. If the murmur has not closed, then we will proceed with surgery. I will leave it at that until we get the results.
PRAYER REQUEST: Please continue to pray for his health, weight gain and for the heart murmur to be closed successfully.
Monday: I finally got to do Kangaroo Care again! Its quite a transition from the incubator to my chest - it involves two nurses and lots and lots of cables being unplugged. Prior to getting Thiago out of his comfort zone I filmed this video and if you look closely – Thiago smiles!
